Danmark loving dating
(Mary Elizabeth; née Donaldson; born 5 February 1972) is the wife of Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark.
And how do we procreate if we don’t date and don’t marry?
She studied music – playing piano, flute, and clarinet – and played basketball and hockey.
In 1974, Donaldson started schooling in Clear Lake City Elementary School in Houston, Texas (where her father was working) and moved to Sandy Bay, Tasmania from 1975 to 1977.
We may not have good words for ‘dating’ but we certainly have a great word for that spouse-without-a-wedding-ring we have back home: “samboer.” Which means “together-liver.” And yes, that word works better in Scandinavian.
🙂 If you live with someone in Scandinavia, and especially if you have kids, you are as good as any married couple would be in your country.
Having grown up in Sweden I spent many summer sailing in Denmark, so I have spent plenty of time mingling with the Danes. In Denmark there is a very strong sense of equality between men and women. So don’t expect the guy to walk up to you on a party and buy you a drink. There’s a sense of fairness – you do your bit around the house, they do theirs.
